LAKE CENTER SCHOOL
A Glimpse into Early Education in the Texas Panhandle
Lake Center School was one of many one-room schools that dotted the Texas Panhandle in the early days. These schools served as the heart of rural communities, providing education to children of all ages under the guidance of a single teacher.
The Armstrong County Museum has meticulously restored Lake Center School to reflect its original appearance, offering an authentic glimpse into the past. Visitors can explore original desks, blackboards, and educational materials that were used by students over a century ago.
